Werrington volunteers held their most successful Christmas event ever which attracted a record number of visitors to the Library and Village Hall with over 1,000 people of all ages attending the special occasion.

This year Werrington’s Christmas Light Switch-On was transferred to the centre of the village and a host of extra attractions added to make it a full family event. The Village Hall hosted a sold-out Craft Fair in a packed hall with a full array of gifts plus refreshments and a Gin Wagon.

Over the way in the library there was a “Food Hall” that offered a selection of three different flavour Pulled Pork Baps, genuine Frankfurters, Bettys Famous Mince Pies and a Beer Barrel.

But that wasn’t all as the Wetley Moor Alpaca’s, Panda and Teddy, came to visit in a special manger donned in Christmas dress and one of the wellbeing log cabins had been magically transformed into a Grotto for Santa who gave every child a Christmas wrapped selection box and a “I visited Santa” sticker.

RAISED OVER £1,000

The fair raised a record amount from which will go to the local good cause Kidz2Kidz, a Werrington based initiative which helps disadvantaged and vulnerable children around north Staffordshire to bring joy at Christmas.

The event was organised by the Werrington Community Volunteers who make every penny count. As they expand they are always looking for new volunteers and if you would like to know more contact David Shaw on 01782 302019/07778 439 693 or – david@dsaimaging.co.uk
