Local businesses raised £6,500 at the annual Burton YMCA curry night which has been supported by the Apne restaurant, in Burton upon Trent, for over ten years.
The Burton YMCA is looking to raise £10,000 as part of its Easter campaign which includes an Easter quiz being held at The Waterfront at Barton Marina on Thursday 11th April.
The funds raised will go towards making a positive difference to people’s lives and providing a safe and supportive environment for those who are homeless in East Staffordshire.
The curry night was graciously supported by the restaurant’s owner, Mr Hussain, featured a four-course meal, entertainment by local singer Chris Baldwin, a raffle and an auction with guest auctioneer; Richard Winterton.
People can still sign up for the upcoming quiz by emailing fundraising@burtonymca.org or by calling the fundraising team on 07754 045869. The tickets will cost £10 for a team of 4.
Paula Senior, Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at YMCA Burton has said,
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to Mr Hussain for hosting our annual curry night for over 10 years, and also to all the local businesses attended on the night. There’s still time to sign up to our upcoming Easter quiz night in April – bring a team and enjoy the friendly competitive atmosphere!
“As a charity we are committed to our vision to ensuring everyone in our area will have enough to live on, including food for those struggling with the cost of living and importantly a place to call home. We can only do this with the wonderful support we get from people from across the community.”
