Young Minds wants all young people to get the best mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s challenges.

Alumina

Free online self-harm support form 10-17 year olds.

Alumina is a free, online 7 week course for young people struggling with self-harm. Each course has up to 14 young people, all accessing the sessions from their own phones, tablets or laptops across the UK. The courses take place on different evenings of the week and are run by friendly, trained counsellors and volunteer youth workers. You don’t need an adult to refer you or sign you up, and no-one will see or hear you during the sessions – you’ll just join in via the chatbox. 

The Mix

The Mix offers essential support for anyone aged 12-25. They are there to help with any challenge a young person might be facing – from mental health to money, from homelessness to finding a job, from break-ups to drugs. Support can be accessed via the online community, on social media or through their free, confidential helpline or counselling service.

Fearless

Fearless is a site where young people can access non-judgemental information and advice about crime and criminality. The site also provides young people with a safe place to give information about crime – 100% anonymously.

King's Trust

Known as The Prince’s Trust until October 2024, The King’s Trust helps young people aged 11-30 through courses, resources and other support to help people to develop essential life skills, get ready for work and access job opportunities. 

Delivering education, employment and enterprise programmes that empower young people to learn, earn and thrive.

Help at Hand

Help at Hand is the Children’s Commissioner’s free advice and assistance service for children in care, children who have a social worker or are working with social services, children living away from home and care leavers under 25.

Helping with issues through advice, assistance and representation, Help at Hand is staffed by child rights experts who will:

  • Listen to you
  • Give you expert advice
  • Advocate for you when you need it

Childnet

Childnet is a UK-based charity who empower children, young people, and those who support them in their online lives, and its mission is to work with others to make the internet a great and safe place for children and young people.

Their website has top tips, games and online safety advice to help young people get the best out of the internet and stay safe online, as well as resources for parents & carers, and teachers & professionals.

Health for Teens

Health for Teens offers a great choice of content and quizzes across all areas of your health, from sexual health to your feelings, growing up, lifestyle and much more.

Their website features bite-sized information on a comprehensive range of physical and emotional health topics for teenagers, including healthy eating, body image, managing stress, advice on relationships, puberty, sexuality and much more.  Movie clips, audio snippets and quizzes make the site engaging and interactive, and young people are able to share content easily with their peers via social media.

National Citizen Service

NCS offer a variety of  experiences for young people aged 15-17 to help boost confidence, nurture new skills and grow resilience.

In November 2024 the Culture Secretary announced in the House of Commons the difficult decision to wind down the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme from March 2025.

NCS wants to reassure young people, parents, guardians, carers and partners that all NCS experiences are running as usual, although there won’t be any new ones after 31 March 2025.
