Alice Charity are seeking resolute and passionate people to join their Board of Trustees.
The trustees are essential to the success of a charity. As a trustee, you will setour direction and hold
staff to account, making sure they are always doing the best they can for socially & economically vulnerable communities of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme in the county of Staffordshire.
Why become an Alice Charity trustee?
As an Alice Charity trustee, you will help guide and grow a charity that is focused on supporting families and individualsin Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent that need support most, especially with the consequences of the pandemic, food poverty, early years learning, the energy
and cost crisis, and government austerity measures.
Alice Charity was founded 10 years ago and has a unique approach to its delivery by developing lived experience staff, apprentices, and
volunteers, they work around solution experts, more interested in action rather than red tape. They work with multiple agencies where families & individuals fall between their services. They support emotionally, signpost, provide information & advice, and innovate new services to the demands of the disadvantaged communities. They partner and collaborate with other charities to reinforce their community impact.
They will support their staff to deliver their best. Their core services are family Support, Food Pantry, Big Cup (Early learning playgroups). Their other brands include Bucket of Possibilities, Bump & Beyond, Little Kindnesses, Pass it On and Dad’s Community.
You will join a vibrant trustee team with a vast amount of professional and personal experience infields like, the charity sector, business, local
government, healthcare, legal, finance and education.
You will be warmly welcomed, supported to develop your skills, and participate fully in the governance of our charity and all that entails.
This is a voluntary role, but all travel costs and expenses will be covered.
Who are they looking for?
No matter your professional experience, they would love to hear from you. They just need you to be passionate, fair, and genuinely care about
disadvantaged families and members in your local community.
It would be a bonus if you:
• Qualify as a ‘young trustee’ (aged 18-35).
• Have Lived experience.
• Have experience working in governance.
• Have experience working or volunteering with disadvantaged groups.
• Have professional experience in legal, finance, health, local government, social care,business development & fundraising.
What is the time commitment?
Attend 12 trustee meetings a year – this includes 10 board meetings and two away days to discuss strategic planning.
